Avoiding discrimination, prejudices and racism is extremely important in our nation because of the many cultures and high diversity that exists. As a future classroom teacher, it is important for me to make students aware of cultural perspectives so that they do not fall into stereotyping habits. Immigration is another critical issue concerning the future of our country and is one that needs to be addressed.

This quote by Muhammad Ali (1942), expresses the negativity of racial prejudice:

“Hating people because of their color is wrong. And it doesn't matter which color does the hating. It's just plain wrong.” 

Public Eye - Immigration and Racial, Ethnic and Cultural Diversity
This links to a website by the Political Research Associates (PRA) in 2002.  It explains about issues on immigration, racial, ethnic and cultural diversity, as well as other concepts such as ethnic conflict, assimilation and bilingual education.  It is a great resource for those needing information on the impacts of diversity in our society, as well as laws and effects of immigration. 

World Directory of Minorities and Indigenous Peoples
Thinks to a website of the Minority Rights Group International created in 2005.  This site contains a huge amount of information on minority and indigenous groups around the world.  This organization helps support these groups of people by giving them a chance to make their voices heard.  They create campaigns that target trouble areas such as discrimination and violence. 

Global Issues - Racism
This links to an amazing website on a number of global issues.  More specifically, I have linked to an article by Anup Shah written in 2010 that talks about the racism that exists in each continent of the world.  This site includes links to other interesting sites and videos concerning human rights issues. 

RACE: Are We So Different? - YouTube
The American Anthropological Association (AAA) created a video titled "RACE: Are We So Different?" in 2009. It talks about what race is, our ideas of it and what we really know about it as a concept.  It discusses how race has shaped our society and is a big part of the history of the world.
